Soft X?ray Detectors Based on SnS Nanosheets for the Water Window Region

The structural characteristics of biological specimens, such as wet proteins and fixed living cells, can be conveniently probed in their host aqueous media using soft X-rays the water window region (200–600 eV). Conventional X-ray detectors this area exhibit low spatial resolution, have limited sensitivity, require complex fabrication procedures. Here, many these limitations are overcome by introducing a direct detector based on ultrathin tin mono-sulfide (SnS) nanosheets. distinguishing characteristic SnS is its high photon absorption efficiency region. This factor enables fabricated to excellent sensitivity values order 1 0 4 ? C G y V c ? m 2 at peak energies ?600 eV. signal found sensitive number stacked layers, with thicker nanosheet assemblies yielding response higher sensitives over 2.5 × V. Detailed current–voltage temporal also presented. These results showcase performance nanosheet-based compared existing detectors, including that emerging organic–inorganic perovskite class materials.
